Abstract: A 7 page research paper that compares these two countries. Germany and Sweden share many similarities. They are both democracies, have extensive social welfare systems, and promote humanistic concerns, such as women's rights, within their laws and social conventions (Folster). However, despite these similarities, there are also definitive differences between Sweden and German and one of the most profound of these differences can be found in the way in which the issue of gender equality has been handled and is still reflected in their current systems. This examination of Sweden and Germany explores their similarities and differences and then focuses on the issue of gender equality, as a defining issue that differentiates them and which can be traced to their different histories and paths of development. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
