Art of Slavery

Abstract: A 10 page research paper that examines the art of slavery, looking specifically at two aspects of this topic: the abolitionist art of the late eighteenth century, which focused on the horrors of the slave trade and the pro-slavery depictions of American plantations before and after the Civil War. Both of these examples show the influence of art on how slavery was perceived and both categories demonstrate the interplay of social forces between art and a larger society. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
