Iran and Its' Position of Neutrality

Abstract: Iran has a history of neutrality. This 21 page paper examines the way in which remaining neutral has served Iran especially in the First Gulf War which followed shortly after the Iran-Iraq war. The paper starts by examining the concept of neutrality and the law of neutrality in the international context. This is used as the theoretical basis from which the behaviour of Iran can be scrutinized. The paper then looks at the events such as the flying of aircraft to Iran in 1991 and discusses how this could be interpreted. The bibliography cites 23 sources.
