Abstract: A 5 page research paper that examines the question of what constitutes human nature, specifically the relationship between the body and the mind. This question has been a topic pondered upon and studied since antiquity. Philosophers since Plato have considered the nature of knowledge and how this relates to the structure of the human mind. The following brief survey of thought on this subject shows not only the remarkable longevity of this topic, but also how these questions continue to be addressed by present-day scholars.
