Abstract: This is a 5 page tutorial language paper discussing the heliocentric theory and the oppression of the Church of this theory and Galileo. Before the time of Copernicus and Galileo in the 16th and 17th centuries, the Church supported the general scientific view that the earth was the center of the universe, also known as the geocentric view.
