Feudalism in European History: Its Definition and Role in Society

Abstract: This is a 6 page paper discussing the development and purpose of feudalism in Europe from the 9th to 13th centuries. Originating out of the chaos which resulted from the breakdown of the Roman institutional system, the feudal system consisted of lords and kings which controlled fiefs across Europe. Through the development of the agricultural revolution and the expansion of textiles and export goods, the lords and kings became more established and the Orders of Knighthood developed during this time.
