Violence In Early Modern Britain

Abstract: Was Great Britain a less violent society by 1800 than it had been in the century before? This 7 page paper argues that there was a greater degree of social unrest - meaning riots and uprisings - during the eighteenth century. However, the incidence of violent crimes increased significantly during the nineteenth century. Bibliography lists 5 sources.
