A Look at the Theories Posed by Rawls and Nozick

Abstract: 5 pages in length. Philosopher John Rawls' contention of justice states that if a particular institution imparts its own definition of equity that does not equate with the masses, then that institution must either be abolished or reformed. Indeed, the author's egalitarian argument is based upon the fact that justice, in and of itself, is the sole factor that supports social institutions; however, the concept of justice must be the same across the board in order for it to be properly implemented. This paper compares Rawls' theory to that of Nozick's entitlement of a free market. Bibliography shows 5 sources.
