The Jihad And Its Impact On The Crusades

Abstract: 10 pages in length. Had it not been for Saladin's courage and unwavering perseverance, Egypt would never have been recognized as a major power of the Middle East. The death of Zangid ruler Nur Al-Din cleared the way for Saladin's takeover of Syria's Zangid kingdom just prior to the Jihad, or holy war, that he waged against the Crusaders. A staunch opponent of the Crusades, Saladin made it his life's mission to crush the movement and restore people with peace and prosperity. Bibliography lists 10 sources.
