Kant insists that only action derived from duty alone can possess moral worth, illustrating the effective distinction between acting in accordance with duty and acting from duty. In analyzing why Kant contends that action must be motivated by duty if it is to possess moral worth, one must be able to discern the reason why inclination, in and of itself, is not a suitable motive.
