Abstract: A 5 page paper discussing the work and philosophies of these two diverse architects, specifically with one work of each: Venturi's Sainsbury Wing of London's National Gallery and le Corbusier's Carpenter Center for the Visual Arts at Harvard University. The two have very different styles of course, but Venturi is seen as the more creative and versatile in that le Corbusier's Carpenter Center is a "cut and paste" amalgam of elements previously used in other designs in far different climates. These elements - a long ramp, diagonally oriented windows - are most useful for collecting unwelcome snow loads in Massachusetts' cold winters. Bibliography lists 7 sources.
