French Provincial Furniture

Abstract: 5 pages in length. French Provincial furniture originated during the time of Louis XIV. Up until this period, provincial furniture pieces were few and far between; if they did exist, they were constructed very simply. Furniture production of this countrified style began to increase once France established peace throughout the land, with the first of this manufactured furniture borrowing significantly from both Italian ornamentation and Parisian style: precious stones, ivory, mother of pearl or carving.
