Abstract: (5 pp) Michelangelo's long and prolific life as a sculptor, painter, architect and poet made him the most celebrated artist of the Italian Renaissance. His name is synonymous with masterpiece, and his work still amazes artists today. Excerpts from Michelangelo's diaries are included. The works: David, the Pieta, the Sistine Chapel ceiling are discussed. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
