Abstract: A 5 page discussion of the economic and political phases which faced Germany in the nineteenth century. Attributes some of the societal and political changes and Germany's eventual economic success to the transition from a largely agrarian based society to an industrially driven one. Emphasizes that this same period was a period of political reform as well, however. Concludes that by far the most important factor in Germany's eventual triumph as a world power was her eventual establishment of a strong national identity. Bibliography lists 4 sources.
