Dealing with Problematic Legalities in the European Union

Abstract: This 26 page paper looks at the potential problems of legislation in the European community. In a union where all countries retain their sovereignty, but are required to operate under standard sets of rules, there are many potential problems. This is further emphasised by the increasing number of countries which wish to join the community. There legal problems will be at both the individual nations level as well as the European level. This paper looks at this potential and how it is dealt with, paying special attention to the principles of subsidiarity and proportionality. The bibliography cites 25 sources.
