The Role of Art in the Christian World

Abstract: A 5 page discussion of the relationship of art and religion. Illuminates the role of Christianity in shaping the art of the Renaissance period in particular. Emphasizes that this relationship was not only positive in that the Church used its influence to restrict the types of art which was produced and also wielded art as a weapon designed to condemn those who held beliefs which differed from its own.
